SikaLastomer 710 PRODUCT BENEFITS
- Easy to apply
- Good adhesive spectrum
- Good ageing resistance
- Plastic behaviour
- Cures without heat
- Later disassembly possible
Usage
SikaLastomer®-710 is particularly suitable for plastic seals that can be easily disassembled. It is used in the car, bus, truck and caravan industries. SikaLastomer®-710 shows good adhesion with minimal surface preparation on almost every common substrate used in the fields mentioned above. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests under actual processing conditions and with additional materials such as fibres and release agents must be performed to prove material compatibility.

SikaLastomer 710 CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
SikaLastomer®-710 is resistant to fresh water, seawater, limewater, and aqueous cleaning solutions; weak resistance to fuels, mineral oils, and vegetable and animal fatty oils.
The above information is offered for general guidance only. Because of potential chemical or thermal exposure, it is required to conduct a project-related testing.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, and free from dust, grease, oil and water.
If adhesion is crucial, it has to be verified by tests on original substrates.
Application
Apply the sealant into the joint with a suitable manual or compressed-air gun, avoiding air entrapment.
Do not apply at temperatures below 10 °C or above 35 °C.
Tooling and finishing
Joints made with SikaLastomer®-710 are easily tooled with water and soap.
Removal
On non-porous surfaces, let the sealant dry and remove it by dabbing. On porous surfaces, cured SikaLastomer®-710 can only be removed mechanically.
Hands and exposed skin must be washed immediately using hand wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water.
Do not use solvents on skin.
Overpainting
SikaLastomer®-710 can only be overpainted with some water-based systems. The paint must be tested for compatibility by carrying out preliminary trials.
The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants. This could lead to cracking of the paint in the joint area.
